Amber and Brien’s Wedding Sneak Peek

Posted on May 16, 2012

Ever have one of those days when everything just comes together perfectly?  The sun is shining, plans come together, hopes are fulfilled, and the wait is over. This is exactly what happened on Amber and Brien’s wedding day.  This amazingly beautiful, vintage wedding had so many details that were poured into it; from lanterns hanging in the trees, custom made doors placed on the lawn for the bridal party to walk through, Blue Bell ice cream, grandma’s homemade deserts and  cute cupcakes, vintage bottles, a vintage photo booth and lemonade stand, and framed pictures of Amber and Brien’s childhood displayed for the guests to view. The mood and the atmosphere was magically romantic, and the ceremony took place under the tree Amber had a tree house in as a child.  The couple has been together since junior high and their family has waited and waited for this day.  To sum it up in Amber’s words to her family at the end of the day… “You made my dreams come true today.”   This is really just a sneak peek of a few of my favorites and a full post will come soon.   LOVED this wedding and this whole family.  Thank you for allowing me the privilege of sharing this day with you!   xoxoxo

Such a tender moment as Amber’s dad was giving her away…

Ashley L

The many faces of Ashley… all of which are beautiful. Her friends say she is a smarty pants because this beauty also wants to be a doctor.  She is off to A&M next year (insert whoop!)  I spent a few hours with her and her very creative mom for Ashley’s senior session.  We had a great time and actually have many, many more images, but here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy.

Hope

Posted on February 27, 2012

I have spent time with this wonderful family a few times over the last couple years.  This is a family filled with faith and has truly practiced living in hope.  They have overcome some true challenges and have had to wait and trust on God for much over the last couple years.  This year this special family was up against another challenge. Their oldest son, whom I have come to love, was diagnosed with cancer. It was his senior year. More waiting, praying, and hoping.  Mom called to share the news with me and my heart was heavy as they walked this journey.  This photo session was incredibly meaningful to me, as it was done after the news their son was cancer free!  I am humbled at the privilege of being a part of these moments with my clients, doing life with them, praying right along with them.  Thank you for letting me in your life!  I am celebrating the bright future this handsome young man has in front on him.

Ashmore Family

Posted on February 19, 2012

You watched little Oakland go through his first year on this blog.  He is a little man now!  This year his mommy plays a pretty big role in our lives.  Mrs. Ashmore is my twins first grade teacher.   We love her so much and are so happy to have her in our lives everyday.  She has been so very patient with me as she waited… and waited… and waited… for me to get some of these images up on the blog.  Thank you Mrs. Ashmore for everything you do for the loves of my life.

Eric

Posted on January 20, 2012

Since my last post was on a Texas beauty Maranda, I thought I would stick with the theme and introduce you to Eric.  Eric and Maranda are cousins. But the coolest thing is they were born on the same exact day!  Their moms are sisters and they call them “twin cousins.”  Are they the cutest things!  I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this session.  We were able to hang out with the family and friends on some beautiful land and just have fun with it.  Eric’s little sister Lexi joined in for a couple to go in his senior album as well. LOVE this whole family so much.  This post is all man, real cowboy, big trucks, and some serious stud action. I think I just dated myself, I mean does anyone say stud anymore?

Maranda

Posted on January 14, 2012

When I moved to Texas during my high school years, it took me a bit to get used to the “yes, m’am” thing.  Growing up in California we just said “yes, please” or “no, thank you.”  I remember my mom telling us she never liked being called m’am. I kinda get it now.  Lately when teenagers call me m’am, it does make me remember my age a little more.  :)

When you are talking to a sweet, little Texas girl you will ALWAYS get a “yes, m’am.”   The first time I spent a few minutes talking with Maranda over the phone, there was no doubt her mama raised her right.  With every question I asked her, I always heard a yes, m’am.   When we met for our studio session I quickly realized Maranda was, as they say in the south, sweet as pie.  The song we chose for her slideshow was, She’s Like Texas.  It couldn’t be a better fit for this Texas beauty, who shines inside and out.

Lyrics by Josh Abbott…

She’s as free as the Blue Bonnets in the summer

She’s as hot as the Padre Island sun

Most of the times she’s as warm and friendly

Like the hills that surround Austin

She’s as bright as the Dallas sky

She always holds her head up high

She loves the company of her family

She has faith in God’s greater plan
She trusts that I’m a good man
And that why I’ll always believe
She’s like Texas and she likes me

Her eyes are green like the trees in Nacogdoches

Her teeth are white as the cotton in the fall

And when she laughs you’ll always take notice

‘Cause her heart’s charm will shine right through it all

Shes as bright as the Dallas Sky
She always holds head high
She love the company of her family

She has faith in God’s greater plan

She trusts that I’m a good man

And that’s why I’ll always believe

She’s like Texas and she likes me.

Maranda… you are a Texas beauty through and through!

The Hill Family

Posted on December 27, 2011

Whew… I made it through the busy season!  All of my clients Christmas cards were sent out on time and wall portraits were tied with beautiful bows and hand delivered.   I was truly blessed  this season as I sat with families who were teary eyed during slideshows and looked with pride on their finished wall portraits.  It makes me smile.  Outside of a few final albums I am getting finished this week, I am hoping to spend a little time with my four  kiddos.  I did my Christmas shopping in record time this year and with little to no stress.  Can you believe that outside of a remote control car, I did not purchase  ONE SINGLE  computer/phone/electronic item for my children.  That is right, no game systems, no phones, no leapsters, no dvd players, not even a video game.  No complaints either.  We were greatly blessed again this season and spent time at grandmas on Christmas day with my  family.  I made my tortilla soup and a new homemade caramel hot chocolate recipe.  Yummy!  Christmas Eve we attended church with friends at an outside service that prepared our hearts for Christmas day.  Next up… I have two little cuties that will be turning 7 years old on New Years Eve.

I will have posts coming in over the next few weeks so you can see some of the great families and fun seniors I was able to spend time with this season.  First up is the Hill Family- dear friends of mine.  You saw Katie last year for her senior session with me.  She is in school now and is an incredible photographer  herself.  She has such a bright career ahead of her with her photography and design work and I look forward to watching her grow.   The Hill family is always fun to be with-  friends are always a little more “real” with each other during our sessions.  It was no exception on this day.  Dad got hung up at work a little longer than expected, but was able to meet us just before dark.  We had lots of fun with the girls before he arrived!  The ladies in this family are looking FANTASTIC!  All I can say is… WOW.

Amber & Brien

Posted on December 9, 2011

Meet Amber & Brien.  Best friends.  They have been together since they were teenagers.  I love this couple.  Amber is a glass half full kind of a girl, and easy going about pretty much everything (love that)!  They will have a couple more sessions with me and a quaint vintage wedding in the spring. We had an adventurous session with a few water balloon mishaps (more on that later).   One of my favorite moments of our session was when we used these cute little books in a few shots. The books are titled “Do’s and don’ts for husbands and wives.”  We had a few laughs over some of these.  I thought I would share a few for you tonight because every couple needs a little advice and reminders on how to love each other better.

Here is Brien’s favorite-  Wives… Don’t say, “I told you so,” to your husband, however much you feel tempted to.  It does no good, and he will be grateful to you for NOT saying it.

Amber’s favorite- Don’t forget to wish your husband good morning when he sets off to the office.  He will feel the lack of your good-bye kiss all day!

This one is funny- Don’t insist on having Gorgonzola or other strong-smelling cheese on the table or the sideboard twice a day when you know the odor makes your wife feel I’ll.  After all, it is a small thing to forgo in comparison with your wife’s comfort.

Okay… guys, while you may not have Gorgonzola on the sideboard twice a day, let’s at least be considerate of the other strong smelling odors that may make your wife feel I’ll.  Shower up and spray a little cologne on… maybe you will get that morning kiss in the morning before you set off to the office.

It is the only title I could come up with for this post.  No additional words needed for this one.

Hewitt Family

Posted on November 20, 2011

Who remembers these beautiful blonde boys from last year?  Last year the background was a creamy bright green up against their baby blue shirts and eyes.  Mom called to get some new portraits done again this year and I was thrilled! This year it would be warm tones and a rustic look.  They are such a fun family and the boys were cute as ever,  so added a few of them being “boys” in the post.  This will help all my other families realize it takes a little magic to get boys to settle in and give me those looks.  By the end of the session they were showing off their total cuteness!    Mom is such a patient  mom who is game for anything.  Thank you Hewitt family for another year of great portraits!
